Welcome to Camp Iroquois Day Camp!

Flash News: Camp Iroquois is running but at a limited capacity. Registration is currently on hold as we assess our existing registrations for the summer.  To be placed on the waiting list you can email campoffice@ymcacny.org.

Dear Camp Families,

It is so exiting that Governor Cuomo has officially stated Day Camps can open on June 29th! I know that with this announcement comes several unanswered questions regarding safety procedures for your campers. Please know that the safety and well-being of our campers and staff is crucial to our summer programming and we are working diligently to outline practices that minimize the risk of exposure however, as with anything, there is no way to eliminate risk completely.

While we are still working on the final plan, below are some of the guidelines you can expect to see at camp. In general, the CDC recommendations promote outdoor activity as much as possible, so Camp Iroquois is the perfect setting to support that!

Additional Snapshot of Camp Health and Safety Policies:

  • Each camper group will not exceed 10 campers throughout the session.
  • Camper groups will have very limited contact with other camper groups and will not combine with other units at any time during the day.
  • There will be no all camp activities throughout the season (Council Ring, Overnights, etc).
  • Our Units, which typically host up to 120 campers per pavilion, will be reduced by 50%. There will be no more than 50-60 campers per pavilion, allowing for appropriate spacing between groups of 10.
  • Water fountains will only be used to fill water bottles and cups will be provided if campers forget their water bottles for the day.
  • Heightened cleaning will occur after each group leaves an activity area (this includes any equipment used)
  • Each unit will have their own general sports equipment and craft supplies so there will be no cross group contamination.
  • Hand sanitizing stations will be placed at every activity area. Campers and staff are required to sanitize their hands before and after each activity.
  • Swimming will take place at this time. There will be reduced numbers of groups at the swim area at one time and the groups will remain consistent throughout the session. Any shared equipment, such as life jackets, will be sanitized after every use.
  • Please Note: Campers are not required to wear masks. Staff will wear masks when social distancing is not possible (consoling an upset child or in very close proximity to the children) but will not be required to wear them while facilitating outdoor games and activities where they can instruct the campers from an appropriate distance.

Although it will look different this year, we are looking forward to running our 88th consecutive year of summer camp for our community!
